  • Fitting of the Pt 4f photoemission spectrum for the element (research grade), data were provided by Vincent Crist (The use of the spectrum requires acknowledging XPS library website, https://xpslibrary.com/, the data is copyrighted). The main peak was modeled by three doublets, the first with a Voigt line shape and the others with a Gaussian line shape. A small Gaussian doublet was also added in the 76 eV region, as it was not well resolved with this line shape. The fit with this line shape does not allow the maximum of the 7/2 and 5/2 components to be resolved, but adding an extra peak only adds uncertainty to the fit. The total background was modeled with a combination of a Tougaard type background and the interchannel coupling with valence band losses background.
