Post "Fitting of the Au 4f photoemission spectrum from pure Gold using a Double Lorentzian lineshape."

Fitting of the Au 4f photoemission spectrum for the element (research grade), data were provided by Vincent Crist (The use of the spectrum requires acknowledging XPS library website, https://xpslibrary.com/, the data is copyrighted). The main peak was modeled by a doublet correlated with the DL line shape, and the second peak was modeled with the Gaussian line shape. The fit with this line shape allows the maxima of the 7/2 and 5/2 components to be resolved, but the second peak shifts to lower binding energies. This phenomenon also occurs in Ag. The total background was modeled with a combination of a Tougaard type background and the interchannel coupling with valence band losses background.
